The Experience

More than a holiday — a way of sailing

The Big Easy is a 43-foot Fountaine Pajot catamaran sailed by her owner across the Mediterranean. This isn't a charter. There's no captain-and-guest dynamic. If you come aboard, you're crew — you learn to sail, you stand watches, you help with navigation, and you share in every part of the experience.

We sail with purpose. Weather windows are studied, routes are planned together, and everyone contributes to the daily rhythm of life aboard: cooking, cleaning, anchoring, sail handling, maintenance. The reward is real sailing — not sitting on a deck while someone else does the work.

Whether you're an experienced sailor looking for miles or a complete beginner who wants to learn properly, what matters most is your attitude: curiosity, a willingness to get stuck in, and respect for the sea and everyone aboard.

"Come aboard to learn, contribute, and experience the Mediterranean the way it's meant to be seen — from the water."
Real sailing — passage-making, anchoring, navigation. Not a floating hotel.
☀️
Learn by doing — weather routing, sail trim, watch-keeping, coastal pilotage.
🌎
Ecological mindset — solar-powered, watermaker, minimal footprint sailing.
Proven boat — sailed from Turkey to the Balearics, fully upgraded and bluewater-ready.

Expectations

What we ask of crew

01
Minimum 7 Days
Sailing takes time. Short stays don't allow you to settle into the rhythm of the boat, learn properly, or contribute meaningfully. One week minimum.
02
Shifts & Chores
Everyone contributes to cooking, cleaning, watch-keeping, and boat maintenance. There is no service crew — we are the crew.
03
Interest in Sailing
You don't need experience, but you do need genuine curiosity. We'll teach you everything — but only if you actually want to learn.
04
Weather & Route Planning
Crew participate in reading weather forecasts, understanding wind patterns, and planning daily routes. This is how you become a sailor.
05
Ecological Mindset
We sail with minimal footprint — solar power, watermaker, no single-use plastics. Respect for the marine environment is non-negotiable.
06
Physical Fitness
Sailing tasks sometimes require strength and agility — hauling lines, anchoring, dinghy work. A reasonable level of fitness is preferred.
07
Daily Contribution
A daily contribution covers food, fuel, marina fees, and consumables. The amount depends on the sailing region — see the breakdown below.
08
20% Upfront Payment
A 20% deposit is required to secure your cabin. This confirms your commitment and reserves your spot on the route.

Daily Contribution by Region

Balearics (Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza) €50 / day
Sardinia & Italian Med €50 / day
Aegean & Ionian (Greece / Turkey) €40 / day
Southern Spain & Morocco €40 / day
The contribution covers provisioning, fuel, gas, marina fees where needed, and general consumables. It does not include your travel to/from the boat, personal expenses, or optional excursions ashore.
